Me

I am Joseph Jacobs (Joe or Joe Jacobs for short), a 19 year old from Kajang, Malaysia and die-hard Manchester United fan. My all-time favourite player is Keano. I’ve been a United fan since I was 6 in ‘95 when United first came to Malaysia (before they started winning so no, I am NOT a glory hunter!). I only heard about United just before the game. By the end of the game I was an ardent fan (again, proof that I’m not a glory hunter). My godfather, a Liverpool fan, took me to the game to “see how stupid they were” but his plan obviously back-fired. My dad’s an Arsenal fan and the rest of the family support Liverpool except the younger ones whom I’ve managed to influence.

I started getting involved it websites sometime in September 2002. Back then it was just an experiment. I never planned on really going deep into the field. Then, an aunt came up to me and asked me to design a full featured website for her(usuireikiseminars.com) complete with contact forms & a forum. That’s when I stumbled across PHP.

I have since gotten really involved in PHP and web development. I’ve also begun experimenting with Python. I do not claim to be an expert at PHP or programming in general. My scripts may not be fully featured but they get the job done. The scripts are distributed as is with no warranty. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them at the forum. I am still learning so I will try my best to answer your questions.

This site

This site has gone through “re-branding” many times. I had been planning to open this sitesince August 2004. I really never got down to doing the scripts and the design until I had a problem with another site of mine sometime in November 2004. I had requested for wildcard dns to be activated but my hosters refused to activate it (although when I first enquired they assured me they could do it). I was desperate and switched to another host. Not wanting to waste my money, I decided it was time and bought the domain spitzbucket.com (…a name my good friend Kenneth allowed me to use for a while) but that was only temporary.

Then I came up with the name HazardCell (I was in the crazy nickname phase of my life) and so on 21 March 2005 I officialy switched domain name to HazardCell.com. After a while I decided it was time to get rid of the silly, meaningless nicknames and go for something more…sane! So in January 2008, I officialy made the transition to the domain name joejacobs.org.

For some reason this site has been hacked many times. The first was in December 2005, followed by one in mid-2006 and May 2007. I’m not sure why anyone in their right mind would want to hack this site but I guess that just goes to show thatI’m actually doing something right (although I have no idea what!).

In October 2006, I launched my photoblog aBoyCalledSu.com. At first it was my main blog but I’ve since turned it into a photoblog.
